Since 1994, we’ve partnered with our friends at PetSmart and over 2,500 shelters and rescues to give pets in need a better chance at finding loving homes.
Today, more than 1600 stores across the country feature our Everyday Adoption Centers. Here, local animal welfare organizations can host adoptions in a safe, clean space with access to potential pet adopters.
Thanks to the hard work of our rescue partners and store associates, every 38 seconds, an adoption takes place in a PetSmart store. In 31 years, more than 11 million cats, dogs, and small pets have found loving homes through this program.
We believe that pets make us better people, but don’t take our word for it. According to the Human-Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI), the powerful bond between people and pets helps build healthier communities. Not only do studies show that pet parents experience reduced stress, but the unconditional love and companionship we receive from pets also have the power to heal. For older populations, pets can help overcome feelings of isolation and loneliness, while children benefit from the strong attachments they share with pets.
